Crying Does Not Indicate That You're Weak.
To cry is to let emotion flow out of you, cleanse you of the depth you feel. Crying is most commonly associated with sorrow. Each time we ask someone when the last time they cried was, we intend to know the last time they were experiencing pain. For one to feel pain, there has to be vulnerability towards the source and to be vulnerable is often mistaken for being weak.
We frequently compare emotions to lava. Something that can explode and burn every surface around it, if kept corked down for too long. The fact is that due to this representation we have started to associate the entire concept of emotion to negativity. Instead, we should hold it against a river. A river has the capablity to slowly wash over the banks, irrigate the land and fulfil needs of those in and around it. Along with that, it also has the capacity to take life the same way it gives. Much like them, emotions are necessary. They make us human. They give us the ability to form, express and retaliate opinions and make better life choices.
Crying, as said by Charlotte Bronte, has always been a sign of the alive. To cry, we must be attached to something, someone. Being a social animal that is a human being, it is one of our many goals in life to form attachments. Emotions are how we deal with attachments.
However, in times more than one, we do the exact opposite. We use attachments to deal with emotions. We form addictions, to substances, habits, environments, and even people. Purposefully ignoring the signs and red flags, we dive head first into the pool of an altered reality so that we do not have to deal with residual emotion.
This is not healthy, for us or people who care about us. It leads to sudden outbursts, depression, anxiety and ultimately creates a lose-lose situation. Emotion should be expressed, healthily and with thought. If we demonstrate only emotion, it would still bring us harm.
Thought, emotion and intuition are a package deal. In order to have a stable psyche, there needs to be a balance between the three.
To cry, to laugh, to want to hit someone in the head, to be disgusted, to be afraid, to be satisfied, to be anxious, to be bored is what humanizes us. It brings us back to earth and keeps us grounded. It does not make us weak, but only alive.
Great, especially the 4th para, and to want to hit someone in the head, peak of being relatable
